Privacy Policy
Last updated: [DATE -- set before launch]
This policy explains what data pixel-source.com collects, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
1. Who We Are
Pixel Source operates pixel-source.com, a visitor intelligence platform used by website owners to understand their site traffic. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
We act as a data processor on behalf of website owners (our clients) who have installed the pixel-source.com tracking pixel on their websites. The website owner is the data controller responsible for informing their visitors about data collection practices on their site.
2. What Data We Collect
When you visit a website that uses the pixel-source.com tracking pixel, we may collect the following categories of data:
Behavioral data
- Pages visited, including URLs and page titles
- Time spent on each page
- Scroll depth (how far down a page you scroll)
- Referring website or search engine
- UTM campaign parameters from advertising links
- Exit intent signals (movement toward closing the browser tab)
Technical data
- IP address (used to determine approximate location and company)
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Screen resolution
- Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)
- A pseudonymous visitor identifier generated from browser properties
Contact data (only when voluntarily submitted)
- Hashed email address (if you submit a form on the website owner's site)
- We receive a one-way cryptographic hash of your email address -- we cannot reverse this hash to obtain your raw email address
We do NOT collect
- Passwords or authentication credentials
- Payment card numbers or financial account information
- Government identification numbers
- Precise GPS location
- Audio or video recordings
3. How We Collect It
We collect data through a JavaScript pixel (a small script) that website owners embed on their sites. The pixel runs in your browser when you visit a pixel-enabled website and sends behavioral data to our servers.
We also use browser fingerprinting -- a technique that uses technical properties of your browser (such as screen size, installed fonts, and rendering behavior) to generate a pseudonymous identifier. This identifier allows us to recognize returning visitors without using cookies.
We use IP address lookup services to determine your approximate geographic location and, where possible, the organization associated with your IP address.
4. How We Use It
Data collected through the pixel is used for the following purposes:
- Analytics: helping website owners understand how visitors use their site
- Lead qualification: identifying visitors who may be potential customers
- Ad targeting: improving the accuracy of advertising campaigns run by the website owner on platforms such as Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and Google
- Bot detection: identifying and filtering non-human traffic
We do not use collected data to:
- Build advertising profiles for sale to third parties
- Target you with advertising across unrelated websites
- Make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you without human review
5. Third-Party Enrichment Providers
When a visitor submits their email address on a pixel-enabled website, we may use the following third-party services to append additional information to their visitor record:
People Data Labs (peopledatalabs.com)
Used to look up professional information associated with an email address, including name, job title, employer, and industry. People Data Labs is subject to their own privacy policy available at peopledatalabs.com/privacy.
IPinfo (ipinfo.io)
Used to look up geographic and organizational information associated with an IP address. IPinfo is subject to their own privacy policy available at ipinfo.io/privacy-policy.
Fingerprint (fingerprint.com)
Used to generate a stable pseudonymous visitor identifier. Fingerprint is subject to their own privacy policy available at fingerprint.com/privacy.
Data shared with these providers is limited to the minimum necessary for the lookup. We do not share your data with any other third parties.
6. Data Retention
Visitor records are retained for as long as the website owner maintains an active account with Pixel Source, plus 90 days after account termination.
If you opt out, your visitor record is deleted from our active database within 24 hours of your opt-out request. Anonymized aggregate statistics (such as total visitor counts) may be retained indefinitely as they cannot be linked to any individual.
Email hashes are stored in hashed form only and cannot be reversed to obtain the original email address.
7. Your Rights
7a. California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights:
- The right to know what personal information we have collected about you
- The right to delete your personal information
- The right to opt out of the sale of your personal information (we do not sell personal information)
- The right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights
To exercise these rights, use the opt-out page at pixel-source.com/opt-out or contact us at privacy@pixel-source.com.

- Right to object to processing
To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@pixel-source.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Note: We apply geo-based filters for certain client sites. If a website owner has configured their pixel to limit data collection to specific countries, data collection for visitors outside those countries is limited to anonymized traffic counting only.
7c. General Opt-Out
Any visitor, regardless of location, may opt out of all data collection at any time by visiting pixel-source.com/opt-out. Opting out will:
- Stop all future data collection from your browser
- Delete your visitor record from our active database
- Set a permanent opt-out flag in your browser
9. Children's Privacy
The pixel-source.com platform is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us at privacy@pixel-source.com and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated to website owners using our platform.
Continued use of websites that deploy the pixel-source.com pixel after changes to this policy constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
